Our School
I
am delighted to welcome you to the Maseru Preparatory School
web site. Founded
in 1890, Maseru Prep is a co-educational, day, primary school
offering an international curriculum in English, based on the
Primary Years Programme of the International Baccalaureate. The school
has 350 pupils aged 3+ to 11+ and serves the diplomatic community,
expatriate and Basotho families. At
Maseru Prep the emphasis is on the encouragement of tolerance
and understanding within a diverse community.
The school is situated in a favoured residential area of Maseru,
the capital city of the Kingdom of Lesotho. Consequently we benefit
from spacious, purpose built accommodation and the proximity of one of the
leading secondary schools in Lesotho with outstanding results at IGCSE, IB
Diploma and university entrance.
Maseru Prep School is privileged to be in membership of the Council
of International Schools (CIS) and a candidate school for IBO, PYP authorization. This
means that the qualifications of our teaching staff, effectiveness of our
curriculum and standard of our facilities are internationally respected.
The school was last successfully inspected in 2003.
Whilst we aim to achieve the highest possible academic standards,
we also seek to nurture pupil’s individual talents and encourage the
development of well rounded, confident children who actively contribute to
creative and sporting activities.
I hope that the following pages will give you a good insight
into our school. We think that our children are our best ambassadors
so there can be no real substitute for seeing our school in action. We
value a close working partnership with parents and we would be delighted
to welcome you to Maseru Prep in person.
